James Bertie, 1st Earl of Abingdon

James Bertie, 1st Earl of Abingdon (16 June 1653 – 22 May 1699) was an English nobleman.
==Biography==
Bertie was the eldest son of Montagu Bertie, 2nd Earl of Lindsey by his second wife, Bridget Bertie (née Wray), 4th Baroness Norreys. He succeeded his mother as Baron Norreys on the latter's death, c. 1657. On the 30 November 1682 he was created Earl of Abingdon by letters patent. On his death in 1699 he was succeeded in his titles by his eldest son.〔 cites 〕
He was Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, 1674–1687 and 1689–1697; and High Steward of the City of Oxford, 1687. He was Chief Justice in Eyre, south of the Trent, 1693–1697.〔
